Dress Right: A Biblical Basis for Public Modesty of
Decent Hairstyle, Armwear, Legwear, and Footwear

To "cut right to the chase" (so to speak) pertaining to not merely advice or suggestions but even Scriptural mandates, commands, and requirements involving what is proper and acceptable attire and appearance from a Christian perspective, a few Bible verses can be cited to prepare for particularly female body-parts display or lack of such in general both-genders public view:

Song of Solomon 7:13 The mandrakes give forth fragrance, and over our doors are all choice fruits, new as well as old, which I have laid up for you, O my beloved.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 Hey, this alone I found, that God made humans upright, but they have sought out many devices.

Ezekiel 5:5 Thus says the Lord GOD: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the center of the nations, with countries round about her.
6 And SHE has wickedly rebelled against my ordinances more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries round about HER, by rejecting my ordinances and not walking in my statutes.
7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you are more turbulent than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes or kept my ordinances, but have acted according to the ordinances of the nations that are round about you;
8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Hey, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments within you in the sight of the nations.
9 And because of all your abominations I will do with you what I have never yet done, and the like of which I will never do again.
15 You shall be a reproach and a taunt, a warning and a horror, to the nations round about you, when I execute judgments on you in anger and fury, and with furious [holocaust] chastisements -- I, the LORD, have spoken --
16 when I loose against you my deadly arrows of famine, arrows for destruction, which I will loose to destroy you, and when I bring more and more famine upon you, and break your staff of bread.
17 I will send famine and wild beasts against you, and they will rob you of your children; pestilence and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the [holocaust] sword upon you. I, the LORD, have spoken."

Ezekiel 16:37 . . . I will gather all your lovers, with whom you took pleasure, all those you lusted and all those you loathed; I will gather them against you from every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.

To the Hell-destined indolent who claim that "they don't have to do anything to be saved" the following in applicable:

Matthew 5:48 You, therefore, must be perfect [as to modest public hairstyle and attire], as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 15:9 ". . . in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of [satanic be-half-naked-during-warm-weather heretics]."

Mark 7:7 " . . . in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of (demonic immodesty-promoting/allowing) apostates]."

Mark 7:9 And He said to them: "You have a fine way of rejecting the [purity-of-dress] commandment of God, in order to keep your ["it's-just-the-seasonal-style"/"it's-so-warm-out"/"I'm-not-doing-it-to-seduce-anybody"/"everybody's-doing-it"/"I'm-simply-trying-to-get-tanned"/"if-you-don't-like-it-you-can-look-away"/etc.] tradition!

Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me: "Lord, Lord," and not do what I tell you?

Romans 7:22 . . .I delight in the [moral not ceremonial] Law [not merely gospel] of God, in my inmost self . . .

Romans 14:15 If your brother is being injured by what you eat [how you immodestly are misattired], you are no longer walking in love. Do not let what you eat [or your public-view mopheadedness, nude-armed sleeveslessness, naked-legged slackslessness, or socksless, public-nuisance immodesty] cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died.

Second Corinthians 6:17 "Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them," says the Lord, "and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you..."

Galatians 2:16 . . . a person is not "justified" [atoned for] by [committing evil] works "of" [better yet: against] the [moral] Law but through faith in Jesus Christ [and Christ ONLY who atones instead of mere (non-reliable human) faith or confidence in confidence alone presumed and not assumed to "make up for" "oopsies"], even we have believed in Christ Jesus, to be "justified" [again: ATONED for] by faith in Christ, and not by [doing some, having done some, intending to do some, good] works of the Law, because by [Christ Himself having perfectly done imputed] works of the [non-ceremonial] Law shall no one be "justified" [again: past sins ATONED for].

Ephesians 5:7 Therefore do not associate with [the immodest] . . .

Proverbs 13:20 He/She who walks with [modest women] [stays pure], but the companion of [immodestly-misattired] fools will suffer harm.

APPLICATION: Do not be chummy nor walk nor drive with a mophead or one who is sleevesless or slacksless or sockless, lest you also - being their walk-along or drive-along-with companion - are also rejected and avoided, as the proverbial "baby is thrown out with the bathwater." A smoker's smell stinks up the entire surrounding area.

First Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of [humanly-imaginative] men, but as what it really is: THE Word of God, which is at work in you believers.

First Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will leave the faith by giving in to deceitful spirits and [irrationalizations for warm-weather-public-immodesty] doctrines of demons...

Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but they deny Him by their [publicly-mopheaded-or-sleevesless-or-slacksless-or-socksless] works; they are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good deed.

Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with all persons, and for the [reliably-consistent publicly-modest] holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

James 2:24 You see that a [girl or woman] is "justified" [i.e. saved though not atoned for] by [consistently doing good publicly-modest] works and not by [saved-by-grace-apart-from-works-of-law] faith alone.

Is it enough to merely "believe?" Believe WHAT? Have "faith?" Have faith in WHAT? Does not belief-and-trust "faith" involve admittedly-difficult humility and repentance, and both non-idly seeking and doing service to the Lord as the circumstances arise instead of disobeying Him, and acknowledging that to properly define "sin" reference to the Law is necessary?

The above-stated selections from the Word of God obviously overrule, override, abrogate, and annihilate various intellectually-sloppy and thoughtless, inane, illogical, insane, selfish and self-centered, licentious and lascivious excuses for visually-harassive and optically-abusive pseudo-innocent or arrogantly-flagrant display of such immodesty as [female-human] loose long hair, naked sleevesless arms, nude slacksless legs (as in shorted skirts or shorts or swimwear), and sockless feet in sandals or flip-flops.

To detail each of the previously-mentioned [female] body parts, various passages of the Old and New Testaments of the selectively-translated-correctly Holy Bible are rightfully and sensibly "cherry-picked" or "proof-texted" (i.e. logically and sensibly applied) to counter and correct particularly feminist-sexist females lamentably and woefully hung-up and addicted to mindless and senseless habits of repeated or daily becoming and being irritating and obnoxious sex objects because of wearing insufficient and immodest public-nuisance clothing:

Numbers 5:12 [not the KJV nor NIV but instead the RSV or NASB or ESV] = Say to the people of Israel: "If any man's wife goes astray and acts unfaithfully against him,
13 if a man lies with her carnally, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband, and she is undetected though she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her, being that she was not taken in the act;
14 and if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him, and he is jealous of his wife who has defiled herself; or if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him, and he is jealous of his wife, though she has not defiled herself;
15 then the man shall bring his wife to the priest . . .
18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and unbind the hair of the woman's head . . ."

[ANALYSIS: WHY would some priest, not married to the woman himself, loosen some woman's hair? Is not that illegally taking indecent liberties? Does that not infer that her potentially-loose long hair was typically bound with a burka-or-hijab-like shawl or scarf (the modern equivalent being a single back-of-head ponytail or put into an up-do)?]

Song of Solomon 7:5 [not the KJV nor NIV but instead the RSV or NASB or ESV] = Your head crowns you like Carmel, and your flowing locks are like purple; a king is held captive in the tresses.

[ANALYSIS: The vital phrase: "flowing locks" - which is a correctly-translated English-worded rendition of the actual Hebrew Text according to most Hebrew lexicons - obviously means LOOSE long hair (such as that hanging below at least mouth-level).
And that enticing loose long hair is not intended to be imposed and titillate or be grieved at by every Tom, Dick, and Harry at random, but ONLY sensually appreciated and enjoyed by the woman's OWN beloved (husband) in private].

Song of Solomon 2:14 Oh my dove, in the CLEFTS of the rock, in the COVERT of the cliff, let ME see YOUR face, let ME hear YOUR voice, because YOUR voice is sweet, and YOUR face is attractive.

No wonder [some] enlightened islamic women wear face veils and are not allowed to drive cars in public!]

First Corinthians 11:13 [KJV and similar preferred] = Judge for yourselves; is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that for a man to wear long hair is degrading to him,
15 but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory, because her hair is given to her for a covering.
16 If any one intends to be contentious, we recognize no SUCH practice, nor do the churches of God.

[ANALYSIS: The true, genuine, and authentic churches of God do not allow a woman to misregard display of her glorious loose long hair as adequate for a prayer covering or veil.]

Second Samuel 13:18 [RSV and NASB and ESV but not the KJV nor NIV] = Now [Tamar] was wearing a long robe with sleeves, because with such were the virgin daughters of the king traditionally dressed . . .

[ANALYSIS: Clearly it was the proper and decent style of the time for woman to publicly exhibit themselves with long sleeves in long robes or dresses or gowns - much like muslim women and old-order Catholic nuns wearing garments completely covering all their arms, as did decent early-American puritan-pilgrim pioneer women even up to the early 1900s]

Isaiah 47:1 Come down and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans, because you shall no more be called tender and delicate.
2 Take the millstones and grind meal, put off your veil, strip off your robe, uncover your legs, pass through the rivers.
3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered, and your shame shall be seen. I will take vengeance, and I will spare no one.
4 Our Redeemer: the LORD of hosts is His name, who is the Holy One of Israel.

[ANALYSIS: What could be more plain regarding the phrase: "uncover your legs?" If the passage refers to mere idolatry of whatever type(s), why is it expressed with the specifically-worded phrase of baring naked legs? What have bared nude legs have to do with a lot of idolatry? (Duh!) And how are female legs generally bared in public view, if not with slitted long skirt, skirts shorted to any length, capri legwear, knee-length or shorter shorts, and legs-baring swimwear?

The words: "nakedness" and particularly "shame" in the next verse following the mention of uncovered legs (relating to "virgin daughters of Babylon" and similar ilk) obviously are related to the mention of bared legs. Yes?

The word: "Redeemer" in Isaiah 47:4 above only applies to the modestly penitent!]

Jeremiah 2:20 [not the NIV nor many other recent translations] = Long ago you broke your yoke and burst your bonds; and you said: "I will not serve." Yes, upon every high hill and under every green tree you bowed down as a harlot.
21 Yet I planted you a choice vine, totally of pure seed. How then have you turned degenerate and become a wild vine?
22 "Though you wash yourself with lye and use much soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me," says the Lord GOD.
23 How can you say: "I am not defiled, I have not gone after the Baals"? Look at your way in the valley; know what you have done: a restive young camel interlacing her tracks,
24 a wild ass used to the wilderness, in her heat sniffing the wind! Who can restrain her lust? None who seek her need weary themselves; in her month they will find her.
25 Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said: "It is hopeless, for I have loved strangers, and after them I will go."

[ANALYSIS: For nitpickers and legalists decrying and pooh-poohing "cherry-picked" Bible verses and demanding pre-and-post "context" which is "rightly interpreted" sufficient and enough before-and-after verses were stated rather than simply mentioned the anti-(going-barefooted-when-in-public) verse 25 in the passage.

Apostate and heretic revisionism and rewording by certain modern "bible" translations insidiously changing the phrase: "Keep you feet from being unshod" have gone off on a deviant and wayward tangent - missing the modesty point and intention entirely - by instead stating stuff like: "Do not wear your shoes out running after other gods" and similar garbage paraphrasing.]

In summary, all the above Scriptural admonitions and more fall into the category of the following:

First Timothy 2:5 There is one God, and there is one mediator between God and humans, the Man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony to which was borne at the proper time.
7 For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the nations in faith and truth.
8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;
9 also that women should be adorned modestly and sensibly in decent apparel, not with plaited hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing
10 but by good works, as befits women who profess religion.
11 Have a woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 I allow NO woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent,
13 because Adam was formed first, then Eve;
14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
15 Yet woman will be saved by bearing children [instead of repressing and depriving themselves with non-realistic anti-reproductive eternal abstinence or using so-called "birth" "control" pregnancy-preventing contraceptives and committing abortion homicide], if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with sobriety.

First Timothy 5:14 [KJV and similar] = So I would have younger women [Gr. ne(o)teras - not ch(e)ras for "widows"] marry, bear children [instead of early-marriage-avoiding/bypassing plus non-domestically and harassively competing against men in the business world as sexist equal-with-men-presumed career-girl/educrat twits], manage their households, and give the enemy no cause to revile us.
